*God Sightings - God is at work everywhere, but we often miss it, because we are not looking. In an effort to help train our eyes to look for God's presence in the world around us, we are going to be setting aside time during Sunday morning worship to share 'God sightings.' Everyone is encouraged to take a minute to write down one way they saw God during the week. There are sheets in each pew for you to use and turn in. *Hymn Sing/Music Sunday – We will be having a Hymn Sing during worship on Sunday, April 3rd. Please join us as we sing your favorite familiar hymns. *New Members Sunday at Christ Lutheran – Please join us on Sunday, April 10th when we will officially welcome and install new members to Christ Lutheran. *Breakfast with the Bishop – Men of all ages are invited to attend the 14th Annual Lutheran Men in Mission Breakfast with the Bishop, which will be held on Saturday April 23rd from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Cabela’s in Owatonna. The cost is $10 per person. The keynote speaker will be Tim Penny on “Mission Accomplished”. Sign up and pay in the church office by Tuesday, April 12th. *Mission Sunday – Food Resource Bank (FRB) – Next Sunday, April 10th, we will be having our first Mission Sunday in 2016. Join us as a volunteer from Food Resource Bank will explain to us how each year around the world, Food Resource Bank's programs support more than 300,000 people as they work to become food secure. FRB addresses the food shortages and poverty that lead to hunger. The goal of each program is to help families have enough to eat throughout the entire year, and produce a surplus that they can sell to pay school fees, medical care, and modest home improvements. *Christ in Our Home – The new copies of Christ in Our Home for April, May, and June are available in the Narthex. *Special Guest Speaker in April - On Sunday, April 24th, Bishop Steve Delzer will be visiting Christ Lutheran and will give the message during worship. Please join us! *Our group subscription for Living Lutheran (formerly The Lutheran) magazine is up for renewal.The group rate is $8.95/yr. and will auto-renew for the May issue. There is a list in the church office - please check by your name if you would like to continue or cancel your subscription and leave your payment if continuing. Thanks! *Root River Conference's WELCA Spring Gathering - “Glorifying God Through His Achievements” - Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Highland Prairie Lutheran in Peterson, MN. Registration & Coffee will start at 8:15 a.m. The event will go from 9:00 a.m. – Noon. The speaker for the day will be Rob Severson of Minneapolis. Cost is $10.00 (includes morning coffee and lunch). Pre-registrations are due by April 15, 2016 – Sign up sheet will be in Christ Lutheran Church office. Walk-Ins are also welcome the day of the event. Hope to see you at the Root River Conference's WELCA Spring Gathering!!! *Host Family Needed - We are looking for a family to host a 24 year old woman named Andrea Fernanda Sanchez Gualtero from our sister church, San Pedro in Colombia, who wants to visit Preston for a 6-7 month stay to improve her English skills. She has a BA in Veterinary Science, has visited the Taize community in France and has been very active in her home church in Columbia. She comes highly recommended from Rev. Morales and from the presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Columbia. She will pay her Visa and travel expenses and is hoping we can provide her with room and board. GOD SIGHTINGS:
Members of our congregation share ways that they experienced God: -When I said to a little boy, “Jesus loves you” and he said, “I know that.” And thanks for safe travels this week and my husbands surgery -That I will have family and a friend over for Easter Dinner -All the beautiful flowers in the Sanctuary this joyous Easter morning! -I experienced him this Easter morning when my parents were nice and gave me things for Easter -Sitting around the table at my parent’s house with all the kids enjoying our family. It is a blessing -Celebrating my cousin’s First Communion -We shared a wonderful meal with some good friends -In the morning when I got a nerf gun -My husband and I experienced a week in the Rocky Mountains, seeing the beauty of God’s handiworks -The daffodils standing in the snow at Goose Flats -Hearing the birds singing early this morning. A new day -The internet, so through Facebook I can keep in contact with friends and family -God pushed me to take the chance to try out for the Spring play and I got a part -Being able to spend Holy Week focusing on Jesus as a family -When I got the power to get back up after falling at my track meet -Having an open and honest conversation with my son -Spending quality time with my family -I saw God when I opened Easter eggs -Having fun with my family -I got a Superior rating on my solo song -Having fun with my family on Easter -Giving me the strength at my first track meet for my new 1 mile personal record -Spending time with old friends, seeing the flowers bloom through the snow, and spending Easter with family -The joy of hearing the good news of Easter and seeing the Bell choir play with joy – Jesus Loves Me -After a rough day with my kids, my son whispered in my ear during church, “Tomorrow is going to be a good day and I’m going to play with you and do dishes and eat all of my food.”
