*The first Sunday of each month is designated to collect Food Shelf donations of non-perishable foods or monetary donations. Donations will be received on February 7th  during offering. Thanks for your support of our Food Shelf!

*February is Youth Month!  The purpose of this designation is to highlight the youth of our congregation and to encourage them in their participation in the life of the church, and in their walk with Jesus. During February our youth will be providing leadership in our Sunday morning services. Sunday, February 21st will be Youth Sunday.

*Ash Wednesday - The important season of Lent begins with our Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday, February 10th at 7:00 p.m. The service will include Holy Communion, the mark of ashes, and a message from Pastor Dan. Preceding the service there will be a Chili Supper from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. There will be no Confirmation class that night.

*Looking for delegates! The Root River Conference meeting will take place on Sunday, Feb 14th at 2:00pm. It will be hosted by Lutheran Campus ministry in Winona. If you are interested in attending along with Pastor Dan, please let him know or call the church office. Thank you.

*The Essential Question Challenge – On January 10th, we began The Essential Question Challenge - a journey through the book of Acts that builds on the question the Apostle Paul asked, “What shall I do, Lord?” (Acts 22:10). This 10-week Bible reading experience will help you see that God has a mission for all of his people—whether it’s to serve him faithfully in the marketplace, in the home, in school, in the military or someplace else.  There will be five readings each week and a Sunday morning sermon on the main idea of those readings. There are also three small groups per week – Sundays at 10:20 a.m., Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.  All groups meet at Christ Lutheran and discuss the weekly readings from Acts. Please join us or start your own group.

*God Sightings - God is at work everywhere, but we often miss it, because we are not looking.  In an effort to help train our eyes to look for God's presence in the world around us, we are going to be setting aside time during Sunday morning worship to share 'God sightings.'   Everyone is encouraged to take a minute to write down one way they saw God during the week. There are sheets in each pew for you to use and turn in.  God sightings can be just about anything: the smile of a child, a beautiful sunset, helping someone across the street, caring for someone in pain, passing a test, experiencing God's peace, etc.  We hope that as we hear each other's 'God sightings,' it will become easier for us to recognize God's action in our lives and in the world around us.  You will find what you are looking for...so look for God.    (Jeremiah 29:13)

*DID YOU KNOW - Our youth room at Christ Lutheran is going to get a new look as a generous donation was given in order to give the room a face lift.We will soon have a bulletin/brag board for our youth.  Please bring in newspaper clippings or a write up of something you are proud of our youth for.  This includes any out of town youth of your children or grandchildren. Please share their accomplishments with us.We are planning many fun events for our youth at Christ Lutheran including, Super Night, a fun filled night in Rochester with over 600 youth from area churches sponsored by Rochester youth for Christ.  Those going will have the opportunity to stay up all night and go to the Rochester Athletic Club, the Rec Center, and Bowlocity, to name a few!!  A ski trip is also in the works and watch for more events to come. We are busy planning. Let’s all encourage our youth to get involved in these great opportunities.

*Are you looking for something special to do for Valentine's Day this year? How about investing in your relationship instead of just going out for a meal? From Feb 7th-14th you can visit www.Couplecheckup.com and take their online marriage invetory for $19 instead of the normal $35 cost. This is a tool that will help you discover the strengths and growth areas of your relationship. It also comes with a very helpful discussion guide that you can work through together. Pastor Dan has used this resource for pre-marital counseling over the last 9 years and believes it will be worth your time and investment.
